There are 10 cities within The Metroplex that have over 100,000 population.The annual rainfall is 33 inches - mostly in May.As of January 2007, there were 43 Fortune 500 companies located in Dallas/fort Worth including Exxon Mobil, JCPenney and TXU, and Texas now ranks as the top headquarters state.Mary Kay, Chili's, TGI Friday's, 7-11 and Barney all started here.
Dallas boasts the world's largest wholesale trade complex and the Dallas Infomart is the world's largest high-tech exhibition and information center.
Dallas has a 60-acre Dallas Arts District - the largest urban arts district in the country anchored by the Dallas Museum of Art, the Morton H. Meyerson symphony Center and The Nasher Sculpture Center.
The arts are represented with Dance Groups, the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, the Dallas Opera, the Dallas Summer Musicals, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, several area Oprys, numerous theater organizations, both large and small, and a variety of museums and art galleries.

The Metroplex boasts several top-ranked museums including The Dallas Museum of Art in Dallas, and The Kimball Art Museum, the Amon Carter (western art) and The Museum of Modern Art are in Fort Worth. DFW has over 20 undergraduate colleges and universities as well as a Medical School, a Dental School, a School of Nursing, a College of Chiropractic and several Theology Schools. In addition, Dallas County, Collin County, Tarrant County and Parker County have a system of community colleges.
There are 23 Public Libraries in the Dallas area.

Dallas, known throughout the world for world-class shopping, has something for everyone from over
15 major malls to a large variety of intimate neighborhood shopping centers to quaint and eclectic
specialty shops.
Dallas has more shopping centers per capita than any other major U.S. city.
For sports fans, The Metroplex offers all of the Major League sports teams including The Dallas
Cowboys (football), The Desperados (arena football), The Dallas Mavericks (basketball), The
Texas Rangers (baseball), The Dallas Stars (hockey) and FC Dallas (soccer). In addition, in Frisco
there are the Frisco Roughriders (AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers) and The Texas Tornados (a
Junior "A" level ice hockey team that partners with the Dallas Stars).
The State Fair of Texas is the largest annual state fair in the nation.
The DFW area has no state personal or corporate income tax and no state property or unitary tax.
The Metroplex is serviced by two airports - DFW International Airport, the world's third busiest airport
and Love Field. Both Southwest Airlines and American Airlines are based in Dallas.
